Kvadrat is a Danish textile company, leading in the field of design innovation and produces contemporary high-quality textiles for architects, designers and private consumers about the World.

For 3 years Kvadrat owns the Dutch weaving mill Gaudium located in Winterswijk. Gaudium is therefore the exclusive producer of furniture and curtain fabrics for Kvadrat with a focus on polyester and recycled polyester. Gaudium is integrating with Kvadrat and we are therefor in the transition of becoming Kavdarat Weaving currently.

As a Product Development department within Gaudium, our mission is to translate the innovative ideas of Kvadrat into high-quality products. Sourcing interesting innovative yarns is a big part of this.

(Technical) Product Developer (fulltime)

The work of the Product Development team consists of 3 areas:

Design translation – transtelling a design idea from Kvadrat to a high-quality textile product that can be introduced in the weaving industry. Here is a good sense of design, colors and the high quality product of Kvadrat and thinking along with the design ideas of Kavdrat.

Research – Especially yarn technically aware of the developments and innovations on the market. Maintain good relations with suppliers, research institutes, students and colleagues at Kavdrat. Think of sustainability processes and developments, recycling of materials, etc. Also participate in project groups together with other companies, subsidy projects, etc.

Technical development – Process technological view on feasibility of textile products / development. Trouble shooting and problem solving together with production and the development team. Use analytical methods instead of problem solving instead of jumping to conclusions of jumping to solutions.

What are you going to do?

  • Developing new products in collaboration with Kvadrat and prodution site Winterswijk
  • Translate new development in the textile market into technical and productive development in weaving
  • Maintain contact with suppliers for technological developments (visiting trade fairs)
  • Follow-up done by QA manager Recording and agreeing on required specifications new yarns, new finish etc.
  • Product portfolio tracking – master references tracking

Who are we looking for?

Education and Work Experience

  • Textile engineer / Textile technologies / Textile chemistry/ Textile Design
  • Experience working in a production environment is a pre
  • Experience in CAD CAM systems is a pre (no must)
  • English and German (for external) and internal drive to learn NL
  • Project management skills for overseeing multiple (complex) development processes
